Fourth graders are using this website to view optical illusions. This site will tickle your brain, too:
http://kids.niehs.nih.gov/illusion/illusions.htm
This student is demonstrating the "floating finger" illusion from the book Amazing Optical Illusions.
You can find optical illusions in the Rose Park Library in the nonfiction section at 152.14.
Use the Order in the Library website to practice putting books in Dewey Decimal order:
http://users.ece.utexas.edu/~valmstrum/s2s/utopia/library4/src/library4.html
When you are at the Order in the Library site, choose the Shelving game. Then choose Dewey Decimal.
Start with Expert and see if you can work your way up to Super Genius.

World Book Online is here (at school and at home)
Rose Park School has a subscription to WORLD BOOK ONLINE. This means all Rose Park students and their families may use the World Book website. Contact Ms. Waples (librarian) if you need the password. It is really easy to remember.

Little Boxtops add up to big bucks for books!
Rose Park students have been bringing ten-cent "Boxtops for Education" to school. The Boxtops collected between March and October added up to a check from General Mills for $452.70!
Thank you to everyone who saves Boxtops. A very big "thank you" goes to Tina Smith, who coordinates, counts, and submits them.
Keep on saving Boxtops and enjoy the new books in the Library that they purchase for us!

Two popular series
The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket. #2 in the Series of Unfortunate Events.
City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau.
It is about two kids who live in the city of Ember and the city is falling apart. They try to save the city. My favorite part is trying to get out of the city of Ember. If you like suspense then you will love this book.

Happy New Year!
View from the Library window. Rose Park Mountain is growing higher!
Fifth graders used Montana highway maps and clues to solve a winter puzzle.
Do you know...
...which Montana town is named with the French word for "cold" ?
...a Montana town with the same name as the North Star or a snowmobile?
...a Montana River that sounds like a skier's favorite snow?
Sixth graders solved a winter holiday trivia challenge on the morning before Winter Break.
